Dr. Vanis' Approach to Care

In looking at this heading in orthopaedics you must be looking for something special. You want an orthopedist that can deal with all of your medical concerns. You want the person who can care for you orthopaedically, but care for the total person. You want a relationship with an expert who becomes your friend.

The reality of what the term "concierge" means to medicine today is what medicine was twenty years ago. You want to be recognized and have a doctor pay attention to what you say. You come to the doctor because you have a problem and are concerned. You want to have answers or, at least, someone who is interested in finding answers to your medical problem.

Dr. Vanis is a unique physician on a couple of levels. The first is that he is a well trained medical doctor (M.D.) with a specialty in Orthopaedic Surgery. He earned his Master of Public Health with a specialty in Infectious Disease prior to medical school. His technical skills are above reproach. He listens and finds answers, not just surgical answers, to difficult problems because he has an incredible diagnostic acumen. He learned his specialty as part of a greater understanding of medicine. He understands how the whole body acts and interacts not just bones and muscles.

He has always practiced looking at the total person. However, life experiences have further enhanced his bedside manner. He has himself lost a child and overcome health problems that have made him more robust in his enthusiasm for life, sense of humor and medicine; most of all these things contributed to his ability to identify with the patient. These life experiences along with his medical learning have made him an exceptional physician. Only an exceptional physician truly can provide "concierge" level care. It is without price!
